The Ukrainian Armed Forces wedged themselves into Russian defenses near Kherson - and became heroes of social networks
The day before, Ukrainian troops managed to break through the Russian defense line during another attempt to attack Kherson. However, the initial success of the attackers turned out to be a trap for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“In the area of the settlement of Sukhanovo, Kherson region, the enemy managed to break into the defense of Russian units. Due to the introduction of a tank reserve into the battle by the Russian command, as well as ambush operations, the enemy was inflicted a significant defeat, as a result of which the Ukrainian units fled in disarray. The situation along the front line of defense has been completely restored,” the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.

According to the military department, during the fighting in this direction, more than 200 military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 14 tanks, 16 armored combat vehicles and 7 cars were destroyed per day. In addition, Russian soldiers captured two tanks, one infantry fighting vehicle and an UR-77 mine clearing installation. 18 Ukrainian soldiers were also captured.

According to military officers, the paratroopers lured the enemy into a trap, launching them a little deeper into their territory, and only after that they began to destroy them with full force. The enemy brought a reserve into the battle, which was met by artillery, and the reinforcements were unable to influence anything.
Photos of captured weapons and footage of captured Armed Forces officers are also published on the Internet. In one of the videos, Ukrainian soldiers aged 24 and 42 from the Khmelnitsky region claim that they belong to the engineering troops and were abandoned to clear mines. Russian fighters sneer at the well-known theme of “cooks and drivers,” and share cigarettes with “engineers.”
In other footage, captured Ukrainians repeat after the Russian paratroopers: “ Glory to Russia! ”, “ Crimea-Russia! ”, and also call out the call signs of the Russian soldiers – “Afonya” and “Grizzly”, thanks to whom they remained alive.
Among the trophies of Russian fighters are the PC, M240, MG-3, PSRL-1 (an American clone of the RPG-7), M4A1, the Czechoslovakian RPG-75 and the M320 grenade launcher.
