Following the launch of factories in the DPR, the railway resumes operations
Despite the ongoing hostilities in the Donbass, since the beginning of 2018, the Donetsk Railway enterprise has recorded an increase in traffic flow between the DPR and LPR. This happened thanks to the restoration of the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant.
Such data was announced by the acting Minister of Transport of the DPR Rostislav Markelov at a meeting with the participation of the head of the republic Alexander Zakharchenko.

“First of all, this is due to the launch of the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant and the import of the necessary raw materials into the territory of the Republic. Of course, this positive moment allowed the company to increase its income to 363 million rubles. The increase in performance indicators led to an increase in traction rolling stock and the attraction of additional specialists, because with a four-day working week, in order not to disrupt the loading processes, the company attracted additional employees,” Markelov noted.

The railway industry of the DPR has not yet restored its pre-war levels - some workers still work 4 days a week, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Currently, the average salary of railway workers is somewhat lower ( around 10 rubles, author's note ) than the salary in the coal industry and metallurgy as a whole," Markelov noted.

“I understand perfectly all the difficulties that you had to face. The main problem is the conduct of hostilities, the destroyed railway track, and damaged rolling stock. But there are moments that require special attention. Our main task is to ensure that employees of enterprises receive their salaries on time, and that all social benefits due to them by law are paid,” said Alexander Zakharchenko.
