Everything is ready: elections could end with Zelensky’s resignation – expert
The upcoming elections in Ukraine will end with the defeat of Vladimir Zelensky’s party and the victory of local elites, which will actually mean decentralization and fragmentation of the country.
Political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this on Channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“These elections will show the relative defeat of Vladimir Zelensky. The triumph of 2019 will not be repeated, and on the contrary, there will be a fairly successful result for strong mayors and strong regional parties.
This will be a qualitative step towards true decentralization in the country. Because all the presidents of Ukraine promised steps in this direction, but no one did anything. I believe that these elections will be the beginning of this process, and the locomotive of this process will be strong mayors such as Gennady Kernes, Boris Filatov and Gennady Trukhanov and so on,” he said.
The political scientist also emphasized that political opponents will want to use the defeat of Zelensky’s party in local elections to quickly remove the president from power.
“I believe that Petro Poroshenko and other opponents of Vladimir Zelensky will do everything in their power and beyond their control in order to dismiss Zelensky before the end of his term. And such a political occasion as local elections will be used for this.
Political elites who are disloyal to President Zelensky want to show that this is a political defeat relative to the results that Zelensky received last year in the presidential and parliamentary elections, because a large number of the president’s election promises have not been fulfilled,” Belkovsky concluded.
