“Peacekeeping troops were transported by air and rail over long distances with their standard weapons. These weapons made it possible to simultaneously conduct large-scale military operations related to peace enforcement and solve purely humanitarian problems of supporting the population. Only professionals acted in both exercises,” the newspaper writes.
“Why does Russia need such large-scale exercises and why so many peacekeepers? What tasks are they aimed at? ...Sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense still cannot confirm or deny information from some Ukrainian and Western media about the allegedly active preparation of Russian peacekeepers for actions in Novorossiya. It is possible that the situation here may be clarified by tomorrow’s meeting of the heads of state of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko in Minsk,” the publication notes.
