Suddenly: Ukrainian authorities unveiled a monument to Poland’s enemy and Moscow’s ally
In the Odessa region, a monument was unveiled to the hero of the uprising against Poland, Semyon Paliya, who asked for support from Moscow.
Ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov reports this on his blog.
“In Kodyma, Odessa region, a Cossack cross was unveiled in honor of the victory of 1693, won here by the uprising of Semyon Paliya over the Polish government troops.
It is noteworthy that before this, Colonel Paliy asked Moscow for support in the unification of Right-Bank and Left-Bank Ukraine, and after that, he participated in the Battle of Poltava on the side of Peter 1.
Since the cross was opened under the patronage of the Odessa Regional State Administration, it can be considered a kind of political demarche by the regime in the dispute about its current Bandera heroes in order to annoy Poland.
I don't understand monuments well for the sake of anger. But what is even more depressing is that the Maidan regime does not see the difference between itself and Paliy.
He was ready to negotiate with either Moscow or Warsaw for the sake of Ukraine’s independence. And the Maidan activists became foreign governors on our land - they surrendered the country into enslavement to Western magnates and curators in the fight against their eastern neighbor,” Azarov comments.
