The participation of the leaders of the CIS countries in the Victory Parade in Moscow is evidence of the emerging alliance between Russia and China.
Publicist Yegor Kholmogorov stated this on air at Sputnik radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Kholmogorov, China has a strong influence on Central Asian countries, and its good relations with Russia allow these countries to keep pace with Moscow.
“The pronounced Moscow-Beijing alliance that has formed in recent months has also played a big role here. It’s clear that the same countries of Central Asia, sometimes they keep pace with us, sometimes they don’t, when they make some pro-Western statements, sometimes they make some pro-Russian ones, and so on. But, since they are located in the space between two huge centers of gravity in the form of Russia and China, then if these centers of gravity require the same thing, freedom of choice in this sense is sharply narrowed,” the expert said.
“And this is good, because in cases where there is a serious geopolitical motivation, it is more reliable than just some old good feelings, which are quite fragile between post-Soviet countries,” Kholmogorov said.
