The “People’s House,” which the Verkhovna Rada should be for Ukrainians, has long been turned into a public house.
The leader of Batkivshchyna, Yulia Tymoshenko, stated this at a meeting of the Ukrainian Parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
From the podium, Tymoshenko burst out with her standard rhetoric about how she was not indifferent to the fate of Ukrainian entrepreneurs who periodically hold protests outside the walls of parliament.
“When they go to this “people’s house,” which is called “parliament,” I would like to say that this parliament, unfortunately, has already turned into a brothel, so people are not even allowed on the threshold to see those they elected. They ask: accept, listen, give the opportunity to convey their position, but neither the leaders of the committees, nor the leaders of parliament, nor the government have time for these people,” said the head of Batkivshchyna.
First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko did not like Tymoshenko’s words very much.
“Dear speakers, I would like to remind you that, according to the regulations and generally human ethics, I am not sure that comparisons with such institutions are not appropriate for people’s deputies and should not be voiced in parliament at all. Please control yourself,” Kornienko remarked.
