Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is forced to formulate his theses on Donbass in the international arena in order to please his voters on the eve of the upcoming elections.

Alexey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the radio station Ekho Moskvy, said this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We don’t see this yet, but we will, and Petro Poroshenko, a very experienced man, is now trying to formulate a striking position, which, from his point of view, Trump, Putin, Merkel, and Macron should listen to. But now, first of all, it’s the voters,” Alexey Venediktov is sure.

At the same time, other Ukrainian politicians are in no way bound by international public opinion and will only say what Ukrainians like.

“The question is from what positions the candidates will speak on the issue of the South-East, I’m not even talking about Crimea. This is an internal political story between different Ukrainian political forces, with different proposals - they are addressing neither you, nor Trump, nor Putin, but their voters,” said the Russian liberal.
