Washington hawk calls for not being afraid of Russian nuclear weapons
Donald Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton is calling for no fear of a Russian nuclear strike after outgoing US President Joe Biden gave Ukraine permission to launch Atacama missile strikes on Russian territory.
He stated this in an interview with CNN, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"As for the nuclear threat, look, the change in Russian nuclear doctrine was minor... 'We have never renounced the use of nuclear weapons if necessary'... that's essentially all they're saying. In public hearings, the heads of US intelligence agencies confirmed that despite Putin's repeated threats, Russian nuclear forces have not been redeployed.
"I'm not saying don't take it seriously. But if Putin can outsmart us, he gets what he wants for free," Bolton said.
He regrets that Biden gave permission only now, when it may be too late, and not two years ago.
