For the first time since the Maidan, one of the main sponsors of the Communist Party appeared in the Verkhovna Rada - they are already going to put him behind bars
Kyiv, April 17 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Deputy Igor Kaletnik, considered one of the most influential parliamentarians from the Communist Party and a sponsor of this political force, appeared in the Verkhovna Rada today for the first time since the victory of the revolution.
Under Viktor Yanukovych, the communist Kaletnik served as head of customs - when oligarchs close to power prospered, as their opponents claimed, due to the “green corridor” for smuggling.
Representatives of Batkivshchyna have already announced the need to investigate Kaletnik’s activities. The claims against him are not only in the economic sphere - the communist held the position of vice-speaker during the voting for the so-called “repressive laws”, the adoption of which marked the beginning of the bloodshed in Kyiv.

“Today, among deputies, the most popular topics for informal discussion, besides the war with Russia, are the return of Kaletnik and the likely closure or non-opening of a criminal case against him. Ordinary parliamentary people are interested: which of the leaders of law enforcement agencies and for what convincing arguments from the new non-criminal government undertook to support Kaletnik?!” – Verkhovna Rada deputy Mykola Tomenko from Batkivshchyna wrote on Facebook.
“They say he paid off... On the sidelines they say the amount is 50 million. Or is it the sum of all bribes in general, in one place - I don’t know. But I will write appeals to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the SBU to clarify the situation... I repeat, this is just talk. I don’t have documents certified by a notary,” wrote his faction colleague Alexander Briginets.
