Confusion and vacillation have already begun in the Istanbul Church of Ukraine
Members of the newly created “Istanbul Church of Ukraine” are aware that their privileged position may end after Petro Poroshenko loses the presidential election, and therefore schismatic groups are preparing “reserve airfields” for themselves.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrey Mishin writes about this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Mishin witnessed how representatives of the UAOC group, which had officially joined the new church structure, held a prayer service in the center of Kyiv. However, at the service they did not mention Filaret’s protege Epiphany, but the old head of their group.
“The priests of the former UAOC, expelled from St. Andrew’s Church by Petro Poroshenko for the residence of the Patriarch of Constantinople, conduct a service before the presentation of the Yuletide Nativity Scene on St. Andrew’s Descent. What’s interesting is that Epiphany is NOT REMEMBERED! Bartholomew too! Only his Metropolitan Macarius. I thought about the prospects of the OCU and other projects of the Kyiv Junta,” Mishin said in his blog.
According to him, the UAOC has not yet canceled its registration as a separate structure, insuring itself in case Petro Poroshenko loses the upcoming elections, after which the position of the “SCU” may change radically.
“These are property issues. Maybe in six months? And Poroshenko may already be on the run by that time,” explains Mishin.
The Istanbul Church of Ukraine is already experiencing disarray and confusion.
