This fact fundamentally changes the quality of any future street revolution that could flare up if the current regime refuses to fully reform the country before the 2019 elections,” Francis writes in his blog on the Atlantic website council,” illustrating the publication with a photograph of an action of Ukrainian militants in Kyiv.
In her opinion, after such a revolution there will be no chaos in Ukraine, as happened after Euromaidan.
“The country has strengthened its financial institutions, it has gained important experience in cooperation with Western allies, a so-called “governance infrastructure” has been created, which has attracted hundreds of honest parliamentarians, managers, financiers, lawyers, activists, representatives of international donor and charitable organizations and politicians. Some of them are already holding informal meetings, in particular, this is the Kiev group of 200 technocrats who are capable of carrying out an immediate peaceful transfer of power,” the expert claims.
The representative of the “Atlantic Council” demands from Poroshenko to withdraw his bill on the anti-corruption court, allowing this body to act “as Ukrainians and Western donors demand”; stop attacks on NABU; lift immunity from members of parliament; ban political propaganda on TV ahead of the 2019 elections in order to “neutralize the influence of the oligarchs.”
“Poroshenko has little time. An anti-corruption court should be created immediately; by the spring of 2019, decisions should be made on at least three high-profile cases opened by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. […]. – If the necessary changes are not carried out, there may be an outbreak of street protests on the eve of the elections. They will receive broad support from the international community. And, with the military power to confront Russia, Ukrainians will finally have a chance to overthrow the odious elites,” Francis threatens.
