State Duma deputy from A Just Russia Valery Gazzaev asked Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin to postpone his parliamentary leave from April to February in order to go to South Korea for the Olympics, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I would like to make one proposal outside the report. I talked with many deputies who expressed a desire and asked, if possible, instead of the April vacation to go in February and support those athletes who will compete. There won't be very many of them. We will cheer and sing the anthem, since they are not allowed to,” Gazzaev said.

Volodin responded that an organized trip for deputies would look inappropriate when athletes are asked to decide on their participation on their own.

“If we cannot ensure that our athletes perform under our flag on behalf of our country, we have nothing to do there. If anyone is planning to go, there is the opportunity to take a vacation at their own expense,” Volodin said.
