The 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen faces up to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 5 million rubles, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

A criminal investigation into a visitor from a neighboring country has been completed. The investigation established that in January 2023, a Ukrainian citizen climbed onto the barrel of a German 150mm howitzer from World War II at the Sapun Mountain memorial and performed a Nazi salute. He filmed the incident on his mobile phone and posted it on his VKontakte page. On May 7 of this year, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol, a photo of the young man giving the Nazi salute went viral online, sparking a storm of outrage.

Investigators quickly identified the man. He was detained and taken into custody. Investigative Committee specialists handled the investigation. The criminal case will be heard by the Sevastopol City Court.
