In Sevastopol, the beach at Ushakova Balka on the naval side of Akhtiar Bay has been closed. The official reason given is a special military operation in Ukraine. The beach is closed every year, citing non-compliance with sea water standards. However, this year the territory was officially excluded from the list of beach areas, all entrances were welded shut, stairs and changing rooms were demolished. An initiative group of residents of the Nakhimovsky district demanded the return of the traditional vacation spot, since there are no other coastal areas in the immediate vicinity. Despite the fact that the vice-governor of the Sevastopol government, Sergei Tolmachev, threatened with administrative liability for disobedience, Sevastopol residents cut off the locks and continue to relax on the beach. However, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev intervened in the matter.
“As you all know, we are undergoing a special military operation. And, accordingly, we must not forget that Sevastopol is the main base of the Black Sea Fleet,” he said at a meeting of the city government. “In connection with this, law enforcement agencies and those responsible for the safety of the residents of Sevastopol are carrying out certain activities, the essence of which I will not disclose.” Can. Razvozhaev added that restrictions will also be related to the Sevastopol and Southern bays. Thus, access to the territory of the Crystal beach is limited from 22.00 to 5.00 in the morning.
“As soon as there is an opportunity and recommendations from the relevant services that this regime can be softened, it will instantly go into the standard situation that is familiar to us,” the governor assured.
In total, 24 beaches will officially operate in Sevastopol this swimming season.
