An influx of tourists is expected in Sevastopol amid a global pandemic
Sevastopol expects to receive more tourists this year than usual, as borders are closed due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced this at a meeting with local journalists, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The official believed that in April the situation in Russia would be resolved and tourists would be able to visit Crimea for the May holidays.
“Even now, the system shows that bookings for May – June in Sevastopol are 60% more than usual in the same period. Yes, people, of course, are planning to come and visit us here. Therefore, it is very important to take full control of the situation in April.
It is clear that abroad it is unclear how everything will end. In the Russian Federation, taking into account the closure of borders, increased measures, a more effective system that is organized today, I expect that in April everything will be clear, everything will be localized, accordingly, all possible consequences will be prevented and we will be able to accept it in May - June.
Firstly, we will hold all festive events at a decent level, and secondly, we will be happy to receive guests. For us, this is an economic chance to replace foreign countries in this sense, presenting our rich opportunities to Sevastopol,” Razvozhaev said.
