Rossotrudnichestvo will draw conclusions regarding the deputy head of the department, Natalya Poklonskaya, after her assessment of the special operation in Ukraine.
The head of the agency, Yevgeny Primakov, announced this in his Telegram channel.
“The Z symbol, which marks our military equipment, as well as V, have become the most popular symbol of support for our army and liberation forces, they have become symbols of the very liberation of Ukraine from obvious evil - terrorists and regime gangs. I cannot call the “UAF” and other armed groups any other way, since I consider them criminal.
As for a certain voluntarism and expression of freedom of opinion by civil servants in connection with the performance of their duties in a federal agency, I consider the interests of the agency and the state it represents to be a priority, in connection with which the conclusions required by all our codes and regulatory framework will be drawn,” – Primakov wrote.

For her part, the agency’s press secretary, Nadana Friedrichson, added that there is no practice in Russia of coercing one or another view regarding a special operation in Ukraine.
“But there is professional ethics. You do not work in the civil service in the foreign policy department if you do not support the foreign policy of the state. It’s simple,” she added. “The carefree time of making provocative comments for the sake of increasing citations is over.”
Crimean political scientist Ivan Mezyukho insists on solidarity with the army through the symbols “Z” and “V”. According to him, Poklonskaya’s statements are offensive towards the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, but not intentional.
“I believe that she did not have a goal to specifically offend anyone, but still, an official of such a high level must be held accountable for her statements,” he emphasized. – But the worst thing is Poklonskaya’s explanation of her position after the broadcast, which she made in her Telegram channel. She called the symbol of solidarity “Z” the letter “ZE”... This is the case when, after such explanations, a person does even worse.”
Poklonskaya’s words may cost her state awards of the Republic of Crimea, which she received as an active participant in the “Crimean Spring” and one of its symbols. This opinion was expressed by the head of the legislation committee of the State Council of Crimea, Sergei Trofimov.
“We have a question about Natalya Vladimirovna, who is voicing a position on behalf of a person with state powers,” Kommersant quotes the parliamentarian. – There is reason to think and work through this issue. Her comments about the "Z" and "V" being a symbol of grief do not quite align with the views of our armed forces on the front lines. For them, these symbols are defining, giving a clear signal on the battlefield who is theirs and who is a stranger.”
Earlier, Poklonskaya expressed her opinion on the Russian Armed Forces' military operation in Ukraine in an interview with Masha Myers on the YouTube channel "Living Nail."
“This letter “Z'” symbolizes tragedy and grief for both Russia and Ukraine. Why? Yes, because Russian soldiers—Russians—are also dying, and parents are receiving different news. This is a problem. After all, the Ministry of Defense says: so many died, so many wounded. Is this joy? No,” Poklonskaya noted.
