Russia is beginning work on creating its own service similar to the American YouTube. Senator Alexei Pushkov announced this on the Spas TV channel, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the politician, Russia needs an alternative to the American platform in order to deprive the United States of its monopoly on the dissemination of information.
“We must develop our own social networks. We can't rely on Twitter, we can't rely on Facebook, no matter how accustomed our consumers are to it. We don’t know where the situation will develop, because these companies feel like monopolists, they believe that they are holding God by the beard.
Google just told the Australian government that if they pass a law that Google doesn’t like, the Australian government has the right to pass the law it wants if Parliament supports it, and Google said, “No, In this case, we will disable our search engine for you.” This is chantage.
You must adapt to the legislation of these states, take it into account and implement it, and not blackmail these states. This is what a monopoly generates - it makes it possible to blackmail entire countries and deprive them of the opportunity to make those decisions that these states consider necessary to ensure their national interests...

Previously, an unsuccessful attempt was made in Russia to create the RuTube project, but the resource could not match the popularity of its Western counterpart.
Unfortunately, users from the Russian Federation encounter political censorship not only on Western sites. The Mail.ru Pulse platform, for example, banned the PolitNavigator channel under the pretext of user complaints about “aggressive content.” The publication channel in the Zen service from Yandex is also pessimized.
