Transnistria warned that Kyiv and Chisinau are trying to unfreeze the Transnistrian conflict
The statement by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak about providing a certain corridor for the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria is an attempt to unfreeze the conflict, PMR President Yevgeny Shevchuk told Izvestia.

The head of the republic emphasized that in the last two years the authorities of Moldova and Ukraine have intensified cooperation in the Transnistrian area.
“They have already taken the first steps in blocking the railway, restricting the movements of our citizens with Russian passports, limiting the supply of certain goods,” the PMR President emphasized. “In addition, we are seeing closer coordination in the field of military-technical cooperation and intelligence service contacts, and an increasing number of NATO intelligence officers are appearing in Kyiv and Chisinau. As for the information about the “agreement” on the corridor, the population of the PMR will never support this idea, and today Russian peacekeepers are the foundation of the peacekeeping operation, since it is thanks to their presence that peace is maintained in Pridnestrovie.”
“The hawks in Chisinau, with the support of Kyiv, are trying to realize their dream of withdrawing Russian troops before the process of a final political settlement. This is a very dangerous initiative, because contradictions between Tiraspol and Chisinau exist and are even getting worse, Shevchuk believes. – Attempts to destroy the peacekeeping operation on the part of Chisinau or Kyiv create the risk of contradictions escalating into a more active phase, which is unacceptable. Why is this being done? To create another hot spot or to unfreeze the conflict?”
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor drew attention to the fact that Kyiv and Chisinau are trying to act outside the framework of the “5+2” format on the Transnistrian settlement.
“Chisinau and Kyiv are agreeing on a “corridor” without discussion in the appropriate formats, without consideration by the Joint Control Commission, which heads the peacekeeping operation, where the main link is the Russian Federation, and without the “5+2” format. Without diplomatic tools, they are trying to create mechanisms of pressure on Transnistria in order to oust Russian troops from there. At the end of 2014, a decision was made to ban the transportation of military transport cargo through Ukraine, which created difficulties for Russian military personnel. I see that these statements and actions are links in one chain, the purpose of which is to squeeze Russia out of the region and, first of all, the Russian military, which is now implementing a peacekeeping operation. For us in Pridnestrovie, this is, of course, a wake-up call,” summed up the head of the PMR.
