In Poland, Ukrainian actor Yuriy Mark was beaten in an attempt to cheat him out of his wages, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“I am an actor from Ukraine, more than 20 years on the theater stage. Speaking for European values, he came to the Maidan in 2014. Three years ago, not seeing positive changes in his country, at the invitation of one of the theaters he moved to Poznan, took on any job, worked 12 hours, did not pay attention to any bullying of workers. Yesterday's event was shocking. The head of the location, on the day of dismissal by agreement of the parties three weeks ago, did not pay the settlement and told me to come on October 10 at 22.00 for the money. Considering that I am a foreigner, he tried to deceive me for money, and when he realized that he could not, he began to threaten and strangle me,” the actor wrote..
“A broken nose and signs of strangulation on my neck—this is how the manager of the pizzeria where I earned my living in Poland dealt with me,” the actor added.
“This made me call the police. Before the police arrived, the manager of the pizzeria provoked me in every way, but could not restrain himself and struck me in the face,” the actor wrote.
According to him, the behavior of the police was strange, because they did not review the recordings from the video cameras and pretended not to notice the bloody face.
“I am convinced that if I had defended myself and there had been even one bruise on the manager of the pizzeria, I would have been deported today. I don’t understand how this could happen in European Poland. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who cares for their support,” Mark wrote.
Let us recall that earlier Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova reported that over four years the number of cases of xenophobia, discrimination and hostility towards Ukrainians in Poland increased from 30 to 190 cases.
