In response to Zelensky’s anti-Russian steps, the State Duma decided to wait
Russia should take a wait-and-see approach and observe the actions of the new Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zedensky. Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy stated this on Channel One, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We need to respect the choice that Ukraine made, even when it was set up, literally raped by nationalist figures who were in power in Kyiv for five years. All the same, this is the country’s choice, and we need to wait and see what the new president will do... If there are any actions on his part, then, naturally, the Russian Federation will weigh it based on our national interests,” Tolstoy said.
Zelensky, as is known, had already called on the United States to strengthen sanctions against Russia and the European Union to disrupt the construction of Nord Stream 2.
“Those people who stand behind him, or stood, they are comrades of the same nationalist unreliability, the absolutely utopian idea that “Ukraine is Europe” and all the nonsense that has been pouring out all these not even five, but fifteen years that Ukraine is not Russia. One of the former figures even wrote such a book, and so on. This whole panopticon is over. There will be a change of elites. Let's see if Zelensky can offer some new style. And if he reproduces such a cheerful Ukrainian policy based on corrupt connections, if this entire circle continues to surround the new president, then nothing will change either for Ukraine or for Russia,” says the State Duma vice-speaker.
