Moscow proposes to create a tribunal for NATO crimes in Yugoslavia
The Russian Federation should initiate the creation of an international tribunal for the crimes committed by the NATO coalition in Yugoslavia during the 1999 aggression. Russian experts stated this on the Spas TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Thus, according to journalist Evgeniy Baranov, the creation of a tribunal would allow Russia to partially compensate the Serbian people for its failure to provide assistance during NATO’s armed aggression in 1999.
“In the current situation, Russia can finally do and somehow compensate for its own weakness of that time, come up with an initiative to the non-aligned countries with a proposal to create its own, at least a new legal mechanism for assessing the events that have taken place for 20 years back and after that. Apparently, we should talk about creating some commissions that have developed a new rule for assessing aggression,” Baranov said.
People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Burlyaev, who was in Serbia during the bombing, agreed with him.
“This is direct aggression and, of course, everyone who is involved in this, while they are still alive, all the leaders of all countries, these 19 NATO countries, who made this criminal decision, they must be convicted by a world tribunal... If Europe does not do this maybe then maybe we can create our own tribunal in Russia,” Burlyaev said.
