“We cannot continue to tolerate such lawlessness, outright lies and inability to negotiate. All excuses for delaying the delivery of aid to people in the area of humanitarian disaster have been exhausted. The Russian side decided to act. Our convoy with humanitarian cargo begins to move in the direction of Lugansk,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that “all necessary guarantees for the safety of the passage of the humanitarian convoy have been given.”

“We warn against any attempts to disrupt a purely humanitarian mission, which has been prepared for a long time, in an atmosphere of complete transparency and in cooperation with the Ukrainian side and the ICRC. Responsibility for the possible consequences of provocations against a humanitarian convoy will fall entirely on those who are ready to continue sacrificing human destinies to their ambitions and geopolitical plans, grossly flouting the norms and principles of international humanitarian law,” the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the Russian side is ready for the humanitarian convoy to be accompanied by ICRC staff and for their participation in the distribution of aid. “We hope that representatives of the Russian Red Cross Society will be able to take part in this action,” the message says.

“The ICRC has officially recognized the existence of such guarantees. Delivery routes are known and verified by the ICRC mission. The documents have been completed. The cargo has long been ready for inspection by Ukrainian border guards and customs officers, who have been at the Donetsk checkpoint in the Rostov region for a week now. This is also known in those capitals where they tirelessly demonstrate “increased concern” about the situation in the Ukrainian southeast. Putting forward more and more artificial demands and pretexts has already become a mockery,” the Foreign Ministry said.

As Navigator reported, yesterday in Moscow they announced that they would propose to the UN Security Council to declare a humanitarian truce.

Let us remind you that 280 KAMAZ trucks with humanitarian aid have been standing on the border with Ukraine since August 14.
