Threats from Chisinau against Gagauzia have become the norm for this region.
This was stated by the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, who visited Sochi and met with the Russian president, after which she was threatened with arrest upon her return home, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin is among the top most popular foreign politicians in Moldova. And not only in Gagauzia, but throughout Moldovan society there is a strong demand for improving relations between our countries. Why should I be arrested? Is there any punishment in the criminal code for meeting with Vladimir Putin? No,” the head of the region said in an interview with Izvestia.
She does not rule out that the bet was made to force her to prematurely interrupt her visit to Russia and reduce her activity in general.
“But for me it has already become the norm to live in a state of constant pressure and threats from the ruling party, Maia Sandu and their representatives. To some extent, I perceive these threats even as compliments and a high assessment of my activities as Bashkan of Gagauzia,” Gutsul emphasized.
Putin is among the most popular politicians in Moldova.
