The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announces an attack on Kherson after receiving heavy weapons
The offensive of Ukrainian armed forces on Kherson is only a matter of time.
Adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Sak stated this in an interview with the German TV channel DW, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Sak, for an offensive, Ukraine needs even more heavy weapons from its “Western partners.”
“In Kherson, you need to understand, Russia is trying to hold a fake referendum in order to announce the establishment of power in the so-called probable Kherson People’s Republic. This is a tactic they used back in 2014 in eastern Ukraine. But at the same time, even today we see that the Ukrainian population of Kherson goes out to peaceful demonstrations; it does not support any of these initiatives. Kherson residents demand that the Russian aggressors leave their hometown - this is the mood that the overwhelming majority of the population in the south of the country has,” says the adviser.
“Therefore, we are confident that it is only a matter of time to liberate these cities and regions. And, of course, for this we need significantly more heavy weapons from our international partners,” Sack said.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian army launched several Tochka-U missile strikes on the center of Kherson overnight, which were intercepted by Russian air defense systems.
