According to the publication, participants in the pro-Russian action dispersed a rally of Euromaidan supporters who had gathered at the monument to Taras Shevchenko. As a result of the clash, there were casualties who were taken away by ambulance.

“They tore out Ukrainian flags, beat up protesters, trampled flowers at the monument, and knocked down speakerphones. Ukrainian wreaths were torn off the girls,” writes the Lugansk website Obzor.

The publication notes that the police did not intervene in the clashes.

After this, pro-Russian activists occupied the regional administration building, raising the Russian tricolor above it.

Activists said they demand a referendum on the status of the Lugansk region.

Previously, the Luhansk Regional Council made a decision not to recognize the new government in Kyiv, but it was overturned by the court at the request of the prosecutor's office.
