Soldiers killed in battles with the Turks were reburied in Crimea
The remains of more than eight hundred Russian army soldiers who died during the Russian-Turkish War of 1768-1774 were reburied in Crimea.
This was reported by the "Russian Community of Crimea", whose members discovered the burial site near Armyansk, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
This is the oldest burial place of Russian soldiers discovered on the peninsula - as a rule, the remains of Soviet soldiers or soldiers who died during the Crimean War of 1853-1856 are found on the peninsula.
“The discovery made four years ago on the territory of one of the gardening partnerships in Armyansk turned out to be much older. In total, the remains of 861 soldiers of the Russian army of Prince V.M. were discovered. Dolgorukov-Krymsky. Search engines immediately turned to local authorities with a request to rebury the soldiers. But bureaucratic red tape dragged on for years. For a long time, the remains had to be stored in the garage,” the report says.
Presumably the remains belong to soldiers who fought under the leadership of Lieutenant General Maxim Berg, who commanded a separate corps in the Northern Black Sea region. In 1771 he took part in the campaign of Prince Vasily Dolgorukov to Crimea.
