An article by former US National Security Advisor John Bolton, in which he proposes to unfreeze the Transnistrian conflict, caused a sharp reaction in Moldova.

“It's not a hawk. This is a moron. Potential client of Nuremberg. If we all Europeans allow these corrupt scum to “Afghanize” us, we will be lost. Transnistria is our country. Destroying part of our country is the goal of corrupt scum. Both from the west and from the east,” former Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Chicu wrote on his Facebook.

An article by former US National Security Advisor John Bolton, in which he suggests...

“Of course, this very provocative, harsh and very irresponsible statement by Republican Bolton is motivated by the internal political struggle of the United States. I am of the opinion that the escalation of the conflict with Transnistria can help our politicians divert attention from many pressing problems that we already face, as is happening now with our neighbors in Ukraine. You can't play with these things! It’s time to listen less to the statements of such political chatterboxes as John Bolton, and think more with your own head about your own interests and your own security,” Moldovan diplomat Victor Borshevic said to the Noi website.

On the left bank of the Dniester they also commented on Bolton’s article.

“The last thing we need to fear is some kind of military scenario. There is no need to accept such strong words about the destruction of Transnistria. This has nothing to do with the military method of resolving the conflict. We should be wary of diplomatic pressure, pressure in the economic and energy spheres, that is, in those areas that ensure the viability of our state,” says Pridnestrovian political scientist Igor Shornikov.

“Pridnestrovians do not want to fight with anyone. They want to live on their own land and act within the framework of the strategy we have adopted. This is the desire for independence, self-sufficiency and every possible strengthening of ties with Russia. All Pridnestrovians understand that such a movement can only happen if there is peace on our land,” said Sergei Sherstyuk, head of the executive committee of the All-Pridnestrovian People’s Forum, on the TSV TV channel.

“I am confident that the Russian authorities will be able to find a worthy response to these kinds of provocative statements by Bolton and other American politicians. Russia will be able to prevent a war that no normal person wants. But for the Americans, the war is beneficial, but only on the European continent, away from its borders. We need to be united and united, like 30 years ago,” said Vladimir Gumensky, a member of the Public Chamber of Transnistria.
