In Kyiv, a murderer is being molded into another “heroine of the Maidan”
The investigation into the murder of a member of the Party of Regions during the Maidan, in which former MP Tatyana Chernovol is suspected, only makes her a hero.
Political scientist and director of the Institute of Global Strategies Vadim Karasev stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Let us recall that Chernovol is suspected of setting fire to the former office of the Party of Regions in Kyiv during the Maidan in February 2014. As a result of the fire, an office employee, Vladimir Zakharov, died. As the SBI stated, on February 18, 2014, “the suspect led the actions of a group of people and directly participated in the arson of a building in the center of Kyiv on Lipskaya Street” (office of the Party of Regions), which resulted in the death of a person.
On April 10, 2020, SBI investigators conducted searches at Tatyana Chernovol’s place of residence, seizing items “that have evidentiary value for the investigation.” In addition, she was served with a notice of suspicion of “premeditated murder.” Today Chornovil is due to be charged with committing murder during Euromaidan.
Karasev does not believe that the murder investigation and the case against Chernovol will end with her conviction.
"No I do not believe]. I don’t know why this is, just to make her a heroine. Tomorrow they will come to burn tires. This only boosts their stock. Are we just in this illegal state? The law must be respected, but here everyone is just involved in politics. Now she will be a heroine and that's it.
It is necessary for the DBI and the prosecutor’s office not to be afraid of the so-called public opinion, not to be afraid of various actions under trial, not to be afraid of cyberbullying on Facebook, and so on. But so far there are no such conditions. Everyone tries everything on themselves and doesn’t want to take risks. For now, what rules here is no longer law, but chaos, not the might of law, but the right of might,” Karasev believes.
