There is a new wave of decommunization in Kyiv, deputies continue to fight with the “Soviet” streets

Today, September 20, a meeting of the Commission on Names of the Kyiv City State Administration was held, at which the commission supported the renaming of a number of streets and objects in the capital.

This was stated in the official message on the website of the Kyiv City State Administration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

A draft decision on renaming the street named after the Ukrainian Soviet writer Wanda Vasilevskaya to the street named after the first director of the Ukrainian branch of the Soros Foundation, Bogdan Gavrylyshyn, will be sent to the Kyiv City Council for consideration in the near future.

In addition, public discussions were held and the following renamings were sent to the Kyiv City Council:
•Kirovogradskaya street in st. Vladimir Brozhka;
• Oktyabrskaya street in st. Sulimovskaya;
•Panfilovtsev Lane in st. Job Boretsky;

•Henri Barbusse streets in st. Vasily Tyutyunnik;
•Marshal Zhukov Street in st. Kuban Ukraine;
•Nikolai Mateyuk street on the street. Vasily Ivanis;
•assignment to the park on the street. Sichovykh Streltsy, 27 names “Canadian Square”;
•renaming Andrei Ivanov’s park into “Latvian” park;
•assignment to the square between the street. Zhilyanskaya, Korolenkovskaya St., Tarasovskaya named after Dmitry Peshev;
•renaming the metro line “Kurenevsko-Krasnoarmeyskaya” to “Obolonsko-Teremkovskaya”.

34 new streets will also receive names.

It is noted that the following proposals for renaming are sent for public discussion:
•Pavel Pestel street in st. Brotherhood of Tarasovites;
•Saratovskaya street in st. Heroes of the Bazaar;
•Vali Kotik library in honor of Ivan Grigorovich-Barsky;
•Kurskaya street in st. Gennady Vorobyov;
•Melnikov street in st. Yuri Ilyenko;

• Zhelyabova streets in st. Maria Kapnist;
•Alexandra Saburov streets in st. Serge Lifar;
•Klinicheskaya street in st. Gennady Knyshov.
