In Kyiv they want to fire missiles “deep into Russian territory”
The situation in the Azov and Black Seas is extremely unfavorable for Ukraine, and therefore it is necessary to try to change the balance of power in its favor.
Mikhail Samus, , wrote about this in an op-ed published by the Kyiv online publication "Apostrophe."
Analyzing the situation that has developed in the Azov-Black Sea basin, he comes to the conclusion that Russia completely dominates there, which neither NATO, nor especially Ukraine, can prevent.
“Ukraine urgently needs to build up its naval forces, that is, change the balance of power in the Black Sea, try to ensure that NATO begins to help build its own Navy and Romania. And if at least Romania and Ukraine have effective naval forces with missile capabilities, then we can talk about changing the balance and putting pressure on Russia,” the author believes.
"Ukraine needs to develop its air defense and missile defense capabilities to discourage Russia from using its powerful missile capabilities against Ukraine. And at the same time, it needs to develop its own deterrent—the very same Neptune missile (see main photo – ed. ), which can strike deep into Russian territory. In other words, Russia currently understands only the language of force. And this force can be expressed both economically and on the battlefield. The language the West uses means nothing to Russia," Samus concludes.
As PolitNavigator reported, at the end of last year, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had successfully tested the domestically produced Neptune anti-ship cruise missile.
