In Kherson, Bandera's followers swore allegiance to Hitler and promised to continue his work
In Kherson, local Ukrainian nationalists gathered for a festive rally on Freedom Square. There they recalled the events in Lviv in 1941, when the city abandoned by Soviet troops was occupied by Wehrmacht units, and supporters of Stepan Bandera hastened to swear allegiance to Hitler and proclaim a puppet “Ukrainian state.”

Nationalists read out the text of the act on the proclamation of the collaborationist state of Bandera.
“The Ukrainian state will closely cooperate with National Socialist Germany, which, under the leadership of its leader Adolf Hitler, is creating a new order in Europe and in the world and helping the Ukrainian people to free themselves from Moscow occupation. The Ukrainian National Revolutionary Army, which is being created on Ukrainian soil, will continue to fight together with the allied German army against the Soviet occupation, creating a new order in the world,” says the 1941 document, read by modern followers of the then Nazi collaborators.
According to media reports, the few residents of Kherson who witnessed the action actively supported the nationalists with applause, and then joined them in singing the Ukrainian anthem in chorus.
