A draft law equating corruption with treason has been submitted to the State Duma
The faction of the A Just Russia party submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation 2 draft “budget saving laws”, which are designed to minimize corruption flows. Deputy Oleg Nilov stated this today.

“To prevent gray cash from spreading in tons and truckloads into the pockets of ministers and governors, let’s punish so painfully that even the thought does not enter the heads of thousands of corrupt squads,” Nilov said.
The faction proposes, in particular, to adopt a rule on confiscation of property not only of the corrupt officials themselves, but also of “their entire entourage.”
“Until they prove the legality of the origin of the property. As long as there is no threat of losing “everything that has been acquired through back-breaking labor,” such stories will continue,” Nilov said.
He also proposed equating corruption with high treason.
“This is not just theft. That is why the authority of power rests on one president. Treason means 15-20 years in prison, not 7-9, and even then, conditionally. It is necessary without parole or amnesty. Otherwise, prison doesn’t scare them. They rely on their lawyers, and what awaits them in freedom is not confiscated goods,” Nilov said.
