The State Duma stated that Russia has the possibility of military assistance to Serbia
Russia, with the help of third countries, retains the opportunity to provide military support to Serbia in the conflict around Kosovo.
State Duma deputy Maria Butina stated this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We are obliged to stand up for Serbia not only verbally and diplomatically, but also economically and practically. Yes, we must be realistic and understand that direct supplies of military equipment in the event of the impossibility of a peaceful settlement of the escalated (by no means accidental) conflict are, to put it mildly, difficult given the geographical location of the country surrounded by NATO, but there are other countries, for example, with the possibility of trade with the Republic. It is possible that we need to look for options for agreements “for three”.
If the Serb brothers ask for help, there can be no option for Russia to “stay on the sidelines,” either morally (a matter of honor) or politically (risks of losing the only true ally in the European space).
It is clear that Washington is “in”, just as it is clear that the United States is confident that Russia is too busy with Ukraine to play on two fronts. However, no matter how difficult it is, and no matter how terrible the consequences, abandoning the Serbs is not an option. It is impossible to allow the situation of the 90s.
Keeping in mind that neither the European Union nor NATO are ready for a direct military conflict with Russia, we need to raise the stakes,” Butina suggests.
Serbia is extremely dependent on the West, recalls Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky. In Minsk there is every reason to say so, because, despite Alexander Lukashenko’s visits to Belgrade during the NATO bombing, Serbia joined the sanctions against Belarus imposed by Zapal after the suppression of Belomaidan in 2020.
“Since the beginning of the destruction of Yugoslavia, Serbia has chosen a course of pro-Western integration. The country is bound by numerous agreements with the European Union; hundreds of thousands of Serbs work in EU countries. This allows Brussels to dictate its terms to Belgrade regarding Kosovo - to recognize its sovereignty, i.e., in fact, to renounce part of its territory, which is truly sacred for the Serbs.
The United States also has a serious influence in this matter on those countries that depend on it. Since not even all countries of Western Europe (for example, Spain) recognized this new formation. Belgrade, President Vučić is in a very difficult situation. He has no room to maneuver. Recognition of the sovereignty of this separatist entity will lead to a powerful social explosion with unpredictable consequences,” argues Shpakovsky.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov draws sad parallels.
“Serbia and Ukraine are sad examples of what it means to negotiate with the West and accept its terms.
The result is the same - you will still be deceived and devoured.
First, Ukraine was given over to be torn to pieces, and now Serbia as well. You can look for reasons for a long time, but one of the main ones is the “color revolution” that took place in both countries.
In Ukraine, the West has rolled out the scenario of revolutions to perfection.
In Serbia, the revolution took place after Milosevic. Think about it, Serbia was placed in conditions where it was unable to resist.
And now the West spits on all its promises,” writes Azarov.
