The State Duma praises Putin's message, but doubts its implementation
Businesses continue to withdraw capital from Russia. Communist Party deputy Yuri Afonin stated this today in the State Duma, as reported by PolitNavigator.
“Despite the fact that resources have been accumulated that cover government and corporate debt, a serious outflow of capital from the country is planned. Many companies that operate in the Russian Federation and earn income are, in fact, offshore companies, and the profit goes over the hill,” said Afonin.

He highly appreciated the message of the President of the Russian Federation to the Federal Assembly, which “for the first time emphasized socio-economic development.” At the same time, the deputy expressed fears that the president’s instructions would not be fulfilled, just like the instructions given in last year’s message.
“Unfortunately, during 2018, the government and United Russia introduced bills to the State Duma that contradicted what the president said. This is the law on predatory pension reform, which hit all citizens of the country, the law on increasing VAT, which brought price increases to one of the highest levels. Instead of fighting poverty, the standard of living of our citizens continues to fall. We doubt that the current composition of the government will be able to fulfill the tasks that the president spoke about,” Afonin said.
