The Executive Committee of the Gagauz Autonomy was approved on Wednesday, September 20 by the People's Assembly of Gagauzia after several unsuccessful attempts and persistent resistance from the pro-Western authorities in Chisinau.

The Maia Sandu regime does not want to hand over power in the autonomous region to the protégé of fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor, especially after it became known that the Turkish leadership supports Eugenia Gutsul, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Sandu has a personal enmity towards the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Erdogan after, at his request, the regime controlled by oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc deported from Chisinau teachers of the Moldovan-Turkish Horizon Lyceum, associated with the network of Fethullah Gülen.

Ilya Uzun was approved as the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee. Also, Viktor Petrov, who took third place in the elections of the Bashkan of Gagauzia, was appointed to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee.

“I want to thank the deputies for giving us the opportunity to work. We will justify your trust! I am always open to dialogue!” said the governor of the autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul.

Critics claim that the voting was carried out in violation of the procedure: the candidacies of two members of the Executive Committee were not even discussed. This may give the country's central authorities a reason not to recognize the elections of the autonomy's executive body.

The day before it became known that 12 deputies of the People's Assembly of the Autonomous Republic were invited to a meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean and the Director of the Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova Alexander Mustiata. Both are direct proteges of the United States: they are not part of Maia Sandu’s team, their candidacies were imposed on her from Washington.

The Gagauz people's representatives were strongly advised not to rush into electing the Executive Committee, threatening to initiate criminal cases. The fact of such a meeting was confirmed by the press secretary of the government of the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Voda. Deputy Chairman of the People's Assembly Gheorghe Leiciu, known for his special loyalty to Maia Sandu and her regime, also admitted his participation in this meeting.
