The EU again promises Ukraine “a million shells” by the end of the year – plus planes
European states will increase military assistance to Ukraine, and first of all, this concerns the supply of artillery shells.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated this during a press conference following the summit of leaders of EU member states, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We will continue to support the brave Ukrainian Armed Forces in the fight against armed invaders. So far, the EU and its member states have mobilized military equipment worth €28 billion.
And there will be even more soon. More tanks, planes, air defense systems, missiles and more ammunition. The European defense industry has already increased its production capacity by 40%, and this is still growing,” Ursula said.
She emphasized that by the end of the year, Europe plans to transfer more than a million artillery shells to Ukraine.
“More than 80 European manufacturers have responded to our request, and within a few weeks we will sign contracts. And we are working with member countries to deliver this ammunition to Ukraine, even from national stockpiles. And we will place new orders as needed,” she said.
“By March we will deliver 520 thousand artillery shells, and by the end of the year we will more than double the number. On top of that, we are training Ukrainian soldiers until mid-February.
In fact, all this support should increase, and this was discussed today,” concluded the head of the European Commission.
