The Metinvest press service noted that recently the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant has experienced serious problems with logistics: the railway could not ensure the supply of the necessary raw materials and the shipment of finished products. In addition, due to frequent shelling, high-voltage power lines fail, which leads to equipment breakdowns at the plant.
The latest shelling of the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant of the Metinvest Group has deprived metallurgists of coke, a raw material needed in the production process, the company's press service stated.
Currently, most of the employees of the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant, which was the city-forming enterprise, and its Makeevo branch have been placed on idle leave. There are only about 10% of workers at factories who carry out equipment shutdowns in a normal technological mode. It will take three days to complete this process at the EDZ.
The company emphasized that the resumption of activities of the Yenakievo Metallurgical Plant will depend on further developments in the region and, mainly, on ensuring the stability of railway communications.
