The victim had a concussion, but was treated at home with IV drips. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Article 296, part 2 (Group hooliganism).
However, the police investigator handling the case subsequently reclassified it as a lesser charge—minor bodily injury—in order to reduce the sentence, and then the case was closed altogether, reports the Volyn News.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim and her husband were threatened, demanding that she withdraw the statement or agree with the decision to reduce the sentence.
As a result, fearing for her own life, the woman went abroad. And her husband does not want to continue further, as we see, fruitless red tape. As local journalists note, it is also interesting that the husband of one of the women who took part in the incident, before the conflict in the nightclub, worked as a senior commissioner of the SBU in Novovolynsk. Now he is the head of the regional department for combating corruption and organized crime of the SBU.
