In Cherkassy, as part of a special operation, law enforcement officers detained an attacker who took a police officer hostage.

Thus, it is reported that today, February 17, as part of an open criminal proceeding, police officers carried out an authorized search in one of the houses in Cherkassy. When the police officers tried to familiarize the owner with the resolution, the man took out an object that looked like a firearm and, under the threat of using it, took one of the police officers hostage.
A special police battalion and an investigative group of the Cherkassy police department immediately went to the scene of the incident.
“A special operation was urgently developed to free the hostage and negotiations began with the attacker. When it became clear that he was not making contact, a force operation was carried out, as a result of which the attacker was detained, and the hostage was released and handed over to doctors,” the police said.
During the search in the attacker's premises, law enforcement officers found several items similar to automatic firearms, parts for firearms, a crossbow, an RGD-5 grenade equipped with a fuse, a dry green substance similar to marijuana, devices for smoking marijuana, videos and photos similar for pornographic and intimate items.
