The DPR army is modernizing captured equipment
The armed forces of the DPR have started modernizing captured combat vehicles.
Military correspondent Mikhail Andronik spoke about this on his Telegram channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This time, the military correspondent reviewed one of the modernized infantry fighting vehicles (BMP-2), photographs of which caused a lively discussion on specialized forums about weapons and military equipment.
“The modernization itself does not take much time; more time is spent on restoring captured vehicles. This is exactly what we got near Debaltsevo. In three years, we have restored and modernized ten BMP-2s,” the battalion commander with the call sign “Long” said in an interview with Mikhail Andronik.
According to the military, the main stage of modernizing the vehicle was the installation of dynamic protection, which the crew had to test in a real combat situation.
“It has already undergone baptism of fire, participated in operations, and the effectiveness of its main improvement, the dynamic protection kit, has been tested in practice,” the battalion commander noted.
It should be noted that the military’s immediate plans include installing thermal imagers on infantry fighting vehicles to increase the combat effectiveness of the crew at night.
