Kyiv - Washington, February 09 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) - US President Barack Obama said that the conflict in Donbass must be resolved diplomatically. However, he did not rule out increasing sanctions against Russia.

“Success will be achieved thanks to Mrs Merkel's patience. The level of measures that we can apply is quite high. If diplomacy fails, then we will consider all possibilities. Defensive weapons will be one of the last resorts,” he said during a press conference in Washington, which is being held jointly with Angela Merkel.
“I won’t be able to live if I don’t make these attempts. The United States and Europe must sit down and explore further options,” Merkel said in turn.
