Diaspora adviser to Kravchuk, four heads of the Verkhovna Rada and three Ukrainian prime ministers died
Today in Kyiv, at the age of 90, economist, professor, philanthropist and public figure Bogdan Gavrylyshyn passed away.

“On October 24 at 5 am, at the age of 90, the outstanding Ukrainian-Canadian-Swiss economist, professor, philanthropist and public figure Bohdan Dmitrievich Gavrylyshyn passed away. Bogdan Dmitrievich spent the last minutes of his life with his family in his apartment in Kyiv,” the message says.
Bogdan Dmitrievich Gavrylyshyn was born on October 19, 1926 in the village of Koropets, Ternopil region. He received a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto, an MBA from MIM-Geneva, and a doctorate in economics and social sciences from the University of Geneva. For 18 years he headed the International Institute of Management in Geneva. Member of the Club of Rome, member of the World Academy of Arts and Science, member of the International Academy of Management, honorary doctor at 7 universities in Canada and Ukraine, consultant to states and international companies, moderator and chairman of numerous international scientific conferences and seminars in 89 countries.
He created the International Center for Advanced Studies, the International Institute of Management in India, and then in Ukraine. He co-founded the European Management Forum in Davos (now the World Economic Forum). He was a consultant to General Electric, IBM, Unilever, Phillips, and an advisor to several countries.
He was an adviser to the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, four heads of the Verkhovna Rada and three prime ministers; Head of the Consultative and Advisory Council under the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He initiated the creation of some youth organizations in Ukraine, and was an active member of the All-Ukrainian scout organization “Plast”. He headed the Bohdan Gavrylyshyn Foundation in Kyiv and the Renaissance Foundation in Geneva.
Author of the books – “Pointers to the Future. Towards more effective societies” (1980) and “I remain Ukrainian” (2011).
The deceased, in honor of his 90th birthday, was awarded the Order of Freedom from the President of Ukraine and the Order of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker from the schismatic Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret.
