Ukrainian military expert: Our offensive was expected on Hitler’s birthday
When making statements about the upcoming offensive, the Ukrainian leadership is least of all oriented towards the West or its citizens.
An analyst from the Ukrainian military portal Defense Express stated this in an interview with Gazeta po-ukrainski, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He believes that the statement by Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are “reaching the finish line” was made “for the moral and psychological impact on the enemy.”
“The enemy expected our attack already on April 20, Hitler’s birthday, and April 30, the day of his death. For their propaganda, we have the Nazi regime here. Now they say that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will celebrate May 9 and organize a “beating of babies” for the Russians. More precisely, “the beating of the Wagnerites,” because this was said by the head of the organized criminal group PMC “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin.
When our military-political leadership forms statements regarding the offensive, which should be broadcast to a wide audience, they proceed precisely from military expediency. I don’t think there is a focus here on our society or Western partners. Although, perhaps, there is also a certain media logic in this,” the expert does not rule out.
According to him, the military-political leadership is not guided by the expectation that people will be disappointed in the results of the offensive.
“During previous counter-offensives, it was also not possible to reach the left bank of the Kherson region, and in the Kharkov region, on the shoulders of the retreating Russians, it was not possible to drop into Severodonetsk and Lisichansk. Were you very disappointed then? No, because we have already achieved so much. Our management’s logic does not work to satisfy society,” the analyst emphasized.
He was asked what the consequences for Ukraine might be of numerous skeptical assessments regarding the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Western press and Pentagon leaks.
“For us, none. We are talking about the analytical capabilities of the Pentagon and other US military-political authorities. The world saw the not very high quality of their expert assessments,” says Kirichevsky.
