Ukrainian political scientist: Zelensky’s rhetoric about the 1991 borders is a crime
Even if it is decided that access to the 1991 borders is more important to Kyiv than the lives of its own citizens, the big question is whether Ukraine is welcome in these territories. Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
" It's a crime that the Ukrainian president hasn't yet rescinded his decree banning negotiations with Russia . This crime will come back to haunt him very seriously. It's a crime that we're not going to these negotiations, and we're mindlessly hoping that the equipment they'll give us will turn the tide, that some kind of wonder weapon will be unleashed, and now we'll be on the move. It's a crime that we still haven't been honest with our people about the fact that there will be no withdrawal to the 1991 borders anytime soon. We need to be honest and acknowledge the real situation, not mindlessly lay down thousands of lives every day that will never be revived."
"What's more important to us – people or territories? If territories – are they waiting for us there ? Will they welcome us with open arms? All these issues need to be discussed honestly, rather than focusing on how they'll affect ratings," the political scientist said.

"Now it's 21%, but if I say this, it'll be 18%, and Poroshenko's, for example, will rise, while mine will fall. We need to be honest and leave all these issues for later. Right now, we need to think about how to save the state, how to save Ukraine, how to save Ukrainian citizens, how to prevent citizens from dying, and how to prevent the state from becoming an enemy in the eyes of its own citizens," Bondarenko added.
