Ukrainian political scientist: The assassination attempt on Kernes is revenge for refusing to cooperate with the Kremlin
Kyiv, April 29 (Navigator, Kirill Boyarin) – The mayor of Kharkov, Gennady Kernes, could have taken revenge for not giving the opportunity to peacefully resolve the problems that they are now trying to solve by creating a zone of instability in the South-East of Ukraine.

This assumption was voiced to Navigator by political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko.
“In all likelihood, Putin does not suspect the existence of Kernes - this is not his level. There is simply an occupation of one country by another country. Naturally, in this situation, the elites must either surrender in favor of the occupying forces or take the side of the central government. I think the point here is that when the congress of heads of regional administrations was supposed to meet in Kharkov, it was Kernes who should have organized it. Yanukovych, who fled Kyiv, was supposed to be present at the congress,” Nebozhenko said.
“But the event failed, and the harsh form of creating a separatist zone in the South-East of Ukraine was a necessary measure due to the fact that the congress failed. In all likelihood, they are taking revenge on him for not allowing the problems that Russia now has to solve by military means to be resolved peacefully,” the political scientist believes.
As Navigator reported, yesterday, April 28, an attempt was made on the life of Gennady Kernes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is considering various versions. One of the main ones is “the reaction of separatist-minded individuals to the latest events that occurred in Kharkov.” According to political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, the assassination attempt on Kernes may be part of a general strategy to destabilize the political system of Ukraine.
