Ukrainian political scientist: Against the backdrop of Trump, Putin's visit to China is a breakthrough
The main result of Vladimir Putin's visit to China is that Beijing made it clear that, on the issue of the war in Ukraine, it adheres to Russia's understanding of how to resolve the conflict.
This was stated by Kyiv political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko , who left Ukraine, on the channel of journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" This visit is truly very important . Especially against the backdrop of Trump's much-hyped, long-awaited, but largely ineffective visit ... China has effectively supported Russia's position that there are reasons that led to the war, and that in order to end it, these reasons must be eliminated."
Russia has emphasized this for a long time, constantly saying , " Let's talk about the root causes that must be addressed, and they cannot be addressed solely through bilateral dialogue. Because they are caused, among other things, by third countries that participated in provoking the conflict," Bondarenko said.
“China previously avoided any comments on this matter, but now China has agreed that, yes, there were root causes... China made certain statements regarding the war back in 22-24 , but the Kiev authorities didn’t like them, believing that China’s position was vague, that they weren’t specific.
"We have now clearly demonstrated that, yes, in matters concerning Ukraine, we adhere to the understanding that Russia has previously demonstrated ... In this situation, our position is clear: yes, we recognize Russia's rightness in this formulation of the issue," the Ukrainian political scientist added.
