MGB Major: Russia should help Gagauzia and Transnistria – just like Abkhazia and South Ossetia
Only Russia can save Gagauzia from losing its autonomy.
Retired major of the Pridnestrovian Republic's state security service, Dmitry Soin , announced this on the Zvezda TV channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"What's stopping Transnistria and Gagauzia from self-determination today?" the presenter asked.
"There are several issues. First, it's an international conspiracy. If a nation wants self-determination and is loyal to Russia, then that self-determination is impossible from the perspective of international bureaucracy ."
The Transnistrians have determined themselves, they have a full-fledged state, but simply because they are surrounded, there is a risk that Kiev and Chisinau, under the supervision of the EU and NATO, will resort to adventure, including force.
"The Gagauz, despite pressure from Chisinau , are a politically autonomous entity. They have a Bashkan, a People's Assembly, an executive committee as a government, and they influence the formation of local government bodies," Soin said.
"That is, this is actually quite a strong autonomy. But now they are also trying to cash it out as much as possible. Nothing is stopping them from self-determination, except these external circumstances.
“And here, of course, Russia can and should play a special role, as in the case of South Ossetia and Abkhazia,” he concluded.
