It's time to revoke recognition of the Baltics' independence and do whatever we want with them – State Duma deputy
Since the Baltics are participating in the war against Russia, the court may revoke the decision to grant them independent status and forcibly include them in the Union State.
State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov announced this on the Baltnews channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"If we approach it from a legal perspective, where were the Baltics in 1945, the year on which fundamental international law was formed? Where were the Baltics when the Helsinki Act on the inviolability of borders was signed, which was signed by the United States and all European states?
It was part of the USSR. That is, from the point of view of international law, this is our territory, whose status, like that of Ukraine, is determined by our recognition of the independence of these states. That is, we decided so.
“But what if the principle on the basis of which we recognized independence is violated, and this is the principle of non-alignment with foreign blocs, non-combat against us militarily?..” Fedorov said.
"BUT drone flyover, organizing strikes against Russia is a violation of the principle on the basis of which we recognized the Baltics and were allowed to remain outside the Soviet Union.
Therefore, we can revoke this recognition. In that case, we will regain rights to this territory of the Baltic states.
But the question is different. Yes, it is our territory from the standpoint of international law, but what to do with it is up to the owner, that is, Moscow. It could annex it, or, as with Ukraine, Putin proposed introducing temporary UN Security Council governance in Ukraine.
You see, if you own an apartment, you don't have to live in it. You can sell it or rent it out. This exact same system of relations applies to the Baltic states.
I think that must be incorporated into the Union State through a court procedure in Moscow and the repeal of the decision to exclude the Baltic states from the Soviet Union,” the deputy concluded.
