The Ukrainian army completely lacks quality training for new recruits.
Ilya Mashina, commander of the 431st unmanned aerial vehicle regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced this on the Novinarnya video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The key problem is combat training. No one's doing it properly. The second problem is deployment: you go somewhere, I don't know where, and sometimes they're just brought in, dumped, and then you have to hold the line. The key problem comes from below," the Ukrainian battalion commander reasoned.
He says that one can fill up a ton of paperwork, but first the situation with personnel training needs to be corrected.
"After that, assign them to units that value and cherish their people, and not just blindly... You know, we have finger-pointers—they pointed out where we need to secure a foothold. Perhaps we should fire all the commanders.
That's the second component. And the third component is that we appoint loyalists, not competent ones, to positions. He may be inconvenient, but he's competent," Mashina describes the situation in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
